New York Times
For the past 11 years, I've been writing about beauty for the New York Times. It's just as you'd imagine: an absolute dream job made even cuter because I fell in love with the beauty industry along the way. But with all the products I've been lucky enough to see and try, I'd probably be the last person to say that the world needs another beauty brand.
The Origin Of The Name - Love Of Family
So it was a surprise when I got pregnant with my daughter Ellis and lived in Brooklyn (hence Ellis Brooklyn!) It was 2013 and the beginning of clean beauty as we know it today. Skincare and make-up had already made exciting strides, but the ingredients were almost intentionally cloudy. I've always loved the powerful, invisible language that can tell a story or conjure up a vivid memory with a single, concise scent.
For The Logotype
The Ellis Brooklyn icon is actually a Rorschach test. Just kidding! We've been asked this before, but we like to call it a literary leopard. The original logo was actually based on a lion. In the writing world, when you are actually an author, you are called a literary lion.
